MM Project

Post by plastic_orange »

Thought I'd put a few photos of the progress of my MM since this section of the site is a bit quiet - most pics and info is on the owners section, but I'll list these chronologically here for the non mm browser:

Progress is good so far - all lower sill areas/A/B posts replaced as per original. Body will soon be getting prepped and removed from chassis. Chassis will then be fully finished off to a rolling stage, body will then be re united for final fitting of panels etc, then all dismantled and built up properly.
More updates as and when.

Pete

Well done Pete! It'll be something to be proud of when it's finished. Really interesting to see the progress over the years. Busguy

Some more photos from yesterday. Shell getting underside finish welded, and chassis now being worked on to rolling stage. Looking good.

Some more photos - shell trial fitted on chassis, and then turned over on other side for more welding - not as heavy as it looks - easy lift for 4. Front suspension now being mocked up:

Still a long way to go. I'm building another garage at present to put it in for when I get it back, and then it will be totally dismantled then sprayed and detailed. Don't think it will be ready this year, as I've got my son's minor to spray, and my other V8 - but who knows.
Ian's work is really first class, and he's going to start a full build on his 1936 ford coupe when my minor's out his way.
If you get custom car, the fabrication/engineering and bodywork on the feature car (this month)- Mark's 1935 Ford was done by Ian.

Cheers

Pete

Build up photos are in the MM section web pages, but here are some more up to date ones. I have the chassis back home just now, it just needs disassembled for painting/detailing etc, but I'm working on my son's never ending project first.

Shell back in Ian's garage for finish welding and then it's off to the media blaster. I'll get it back in primer, then will fit it to chassis, run wiring, brakes etc etc, then will come off again for final paint. I managed to get inner wing covers for headlights from Bryan Gostling (much thanks), but missed out on a pair of headlight rims on ebay recently, due to last second bidder - gutted.
