Deleting out-of-date post?
How can I delete a Post I created, if it is no-longer relevant?

There's an 'x' in a box next to the edit button on the post - it turns red when you move the mouse over it. Click on that.

Re: Deleting out-of-date post?
Maybe I have the wrong sort of access - I have an EDIT box, to the right of that is an Exclamation Mark (report this post) and to the right of that is a QUOTE button, no sign of an X.

Re: Deleting out-of-date post?
Errata - I get an 'X' only if it is a "fresh" post with no answers. I wanted to delete a Post I made in the "Cars for Sale" section, which I did tag as "Sold". It still appears in the "Cars for Sale", but no-longer shows up in "View your posts".

Just edit the title to say SOLD.

I did alter the title, but thought it would be neater to remove it. I've also found it again in "my posts".

You can ask a moderator to remove your post if you give a sound reason.

Re: Deleting out-of-date post?
Its just that I have noticed that there are loads of posts of "cars/items for sale" that are way past their "sell by date" and I didn't want my pointer at a Fleabay item to join the ranks. It just makes for a tidier message board, removing the old clutter.
Dated posts about problems and fixes do not fall into this category and will always be "pertinent".
What is the mechanism for asking a Moderator for help? Thanks, George.

Re: Deleting out-of-date post?
I've deleted the post now but there's an auto-prune facility set so that posts in the 'for sale' forums are automatically deleted after a certain time period. If a seller specifically wants an ad removed they can pm a moderator but even after cars have been sold the ads may still remain relevant, as a price comparison, to people who are looking to buy or sell similar vehicles.

Louise, thank you very much for that. This particular one was an eBay auction for a wreck.
