Automotive Interest

Post by bmcecosse »

For those with a general interest in anything automotive - this is a fantastic read. http://www.automotivedesign.eu.com/maga ... fault.aspx On pages 32/33 of the most recent issue are the details of the new Ford 1.1 litre engine which amazingly is shorter than a sheet of A4 paper!! Interestingly, the 'perfect' bore and stroke they chose for this engine is almost exactly the same as the dimensions of a 1275 A series with a 40 thou overbore. So - BMC had it right all these years ago! The new engine also uses an 'unbalanced flywheel and damper' - also pretty much common on any A series engine......
