Favourite whisky (corrected)
Laphroaig
My Scottish pal Jim (a vicar) says its far too complex for a sassenach pallet.
But its my number one.

Re: Favourite whiskey
Nah - Johnny Walker BLUE - but over £150 a bottle
From wikipedia
"Blue Label: Johnnie Walker's premium 80-86 proof (40-43% ABV) blend with no age statement. Johnnie Walker Blue Label is blended to recreate the character and taste of some of the earliest whisky blends created in the 19th century. Bottles are numbered serially and sold in a silk-lined box accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. It is one of the most expensive blended Scotches on the market, with prices in the range of US$200.

Re: Favourite whiskey
'lambretta' is right - because whiskEy is from Ireland - not Ecosseland. We produce whisky - and yes, Laphroig is pretty good! Actually - they are ALL pretty good !!!!

Indeed they are. My favorite tends to be whichever bottle I have open at the time...bmcecosse wrote:'lambretta' is right - because whiskEy is from Ireland - not Ecosseland. We produce whisky - and yes, Laphroig is pretty good! Actually - they are ALL pretty good !!!!
One of the best evenings out I had was in the bar at the Sea View Hotel, John O'Groats with literally hundreds of single malts to choose from. (Not that we actually tried hundreds of course, but it was a good evening and I can't remember which ones I liked best...)
cheers

I'm afraid your Glenury Royal is a wee bit beyond my pocket...... I see it closed in 1985.... Pity really - because Whisky exports are booming and new Distilleries are being opened every year now!

A lost distillery, such a shame. A pub near hear has it on their whisky menu, 18.95 a go, and it really is magnificent.
