A large brock badger did £1500 worth of damage to my Celica GT-Four a few years ago! Just ran out in front of me, must have been very depressed...

New lights, undertray, wing, nosecone plus paint. GT-Four parts are pricy. Was doing 55 at the time. Badgers are very solid. I always try to avoid wildlife but this one rushed out just feet in front from long grass

They certainly are solid, same happened to me when one shot out in front of me on an unlit dual carriageway a few years back.

It met my VW Touran at 70odd, didnt half go with a bang, bumper cover and all of the associated bits of trim, foglamp, headlamp unit. Fortunately for me a company car so someone else picked the bill up, certainly not a cheap one though.

My daughter hit a fox on the M11 in her Fiat 500, it destroyed the plastic front completely - They are not cheap either. We criticise how the Minor rusts and build quality in the 60's and 70's and to a certain extent that is true, but modern cars are so much plastic surrounding a crumple zone.

But what would the landed gentry do then. I suppose they could always chase us peasants and proles for 'sport'

They would do what they apparently do now, breed animals to hunt.

Hunting, shooting and fishing has never been my thing but I can't understand why it becomes a voting issue for people. So many more important things to consider...our children's/grandchildren's future..there are some huge priorities I think.

Don't disagree but think it is also a question of civilised, humane behaviour in a modern allegedly classless and meritocratic society rather than one which harks back to a semi feudal, forelock tugging, cap doffing, I'm better than you because my daddy is Lord Snooty, I don't give a monkeys about your health / education services because I can afford to go private type society.

just a thought !

It's possibly a voting issue for some because having compassion for other species, is recognition and a reminder to politicians that we are not the be all and end all, something that's worth remembering. We all want the best for children and grandchildren, some want to include the same for other offspring.
That's what I call civilised and humane behaviour.

This was one of the gentry using her right to ignore the highway code.

Amazingly got only a £500 fine and six points, classified by the nice judge as 'careless driving' despite breaking multiple rules of the road.

There's a really good Jake Thackray song from many years ago that covers all this in an amusing and rather leftish way...'Pass M'lord the rooster juice '
Worth checking out, but beware that his songs, whilst hilarious and cutting, are not politically correct.

I love 'Sister Josephine' and 'On again" one of the few artists who can reduce you to tears. There is a tribute group called 'Fake Thackray'
