What ho, chums!
Our local Primary School has set the above task for its 4 to 11 years olds and I've just had a crack and got within 0.0025% of the real value! It uses a an updated version of Eratosthenes' method back in about 200 B.C. which you will remember uses measurement of shadows at the summer solstice. Anyway you need a reason to get out from under the Mog so read here https://www.schoolsobservatory.org/solstick and have a go! Who says "Big Science" is difficult? A child can do it!
