Rallies in 2010

Post by Julesgti »

I'm sorting out some rallies for next year and would like some feed-back.

I have looked into three in mind. I appreciate there are lots of rallies we can do, but we have to take a number of considerations into account.

Options are :-
1) Retro Rides 2010 - Join Retro Rides at Haynes Motor Museum
2)Heritage Motor Museum - Show off cars at the museum
3) London to Brighton - I have asked the Mini Club if we could join the Mini London to Brighton run and they are happy to have us along.

If there are any other rallies/show people woulod like to recommend please feel free and I will look into it and add to the Poll

Please respond / fill in poll within 30 days.

Regards,

Jules

I went to Retro Rides this year and was the only mog :o . It was an amazing day with some great track action so next year we need a nice big group of us.

HI Ratrodmog,
I am consious that the MMOC National Rally was held there this year, but having visited the Haynes Museum a few years ago I though it would be ace.

I am also looking into Santa Pod or equilvalent but I do not want to do too much in one year and then nothing the next. One or two official rallies a year would be good.

I am just putting feelers out at the moment as I need to check dates etc with other MMOC rallies and make sure there are no clashes.

Any moggi's are allowed to come ie non-MMOC members, but you will need to be a member to be covered by the MMOC insurance. More the better!

Many thanks for your input. 8)

Regards,
Jules

a track day / event would be good
too far down for me to come to a static rally
better if we get to use the cars to show them off
i would travel down for some thing like that ...

Retro Rides is not just a static rally, but at the same time it is not a offical timed circuit. The Retro Rides is over a weekend, which would favour a long journey !
Track day certainly sounds good and we will do it.

Just looked at this listing/poll and noticed that 121 people have viewed, but only 7 have voted across the three options.
I need more votes to push for rallies!
I can only act on what people want, so vote, or put some recommendations in.

Jules

Probably interested in Retro Rides, but might have a stall there rather than the MMOC National.
I'm quite willing to keep offering dates for the charity trackdays we will be doing next year, plus maybe some meets at Santa Pod or Shakespeare County Raceway.
Might consider staging a Minor Gumball rally in the next year.

It is a shame but we have to push it if anything is to happen. Speaking to Jules earlier I said that we should mention it on other forums etc. I am on too many to count so will spread the work. National Street Rod Association, Retro Rides ect.

None of you went to retro rides show at haynes this year then?
Dont blame you either, at the last minute i got my mustang MOT'd and went. What a huge disapointment!! :( it was absolutley rubbish, probly 10-15 decent cars in the hole field. Tones of modern rubbish that didnt look even slightly modified, a really grubby standard renault clio, how on earth did that get in, looked like it was ready for scrap not show!
We didnt stay long. And certainly wont be going again! Maybe im missing the point of a retro ride? but i could have gone to tesco and seen a better group of cars in the carpark.
Sorry to rant on but seeing your possitive response above for last years show, i didnt want anyone to plan a long distance drive with any expectations next year!
And it was very expensive! with extra to enter the museum.
But on the plus side my Mustang is MOT'd again :D
cheers, Daniel

Hey,

I might be speaking out of turn here but could something be arranged for maybe somewere towards the middle of the country as ive noticed that the only things that get suggested are way down south and that goes for 2011 as well???
Or is that just a no no and im better off just going to rallies as an individual entrant?

Cheers

Hi I'm up for all three! A minor track day somewhere would also be massively interesting, maybe with a open pit lane and just being able to ge out and enjoy the cars?
