crossflow/pinto Minor?
Hi there, have rarely seen a cross flow or pinto converted morris minor, has anyone on here done one? Any photos? Any problems they ran into? Cheers.
Re: crossflow/pinto Minor?
i would think the cross flow should be a reasonable fit as it's a nice small engine , the pinto is a big unit and i would think it would need moving back to get it in

Re: crossflow/pinto Minor?
I went to look at a crossflow engine pickup for sale locally a year or three back. It looked a neat conversion, but it wasn;t a runner and I didn't buy it because it was rotten. It looked not too bad on the ebay pics so I was very outbid by folk who hadn't been to see it. Always wondered what it drove like.
I'd guess a Pinto would be a very tight fit on length, though it has been done.

if not could be worth considering obviously depends on the quality of the work etc..

Re: crossflow/pinto Minor?
Yes I was viewing a shell which had the transmission tunnel modified to fit a crossflow. Very interested to do the conversion to my minor, my brother has a austin a40 farina running a slightly modified 1.6 crossflow, really nippy for what it is. Currently watching a 1300 cross flow from a escort, should be enough to keep up with modern traffic! Cheers.

Re: crossflow/pinto Minor?
SG why not go for a 1275 ? even when tuned its reliable
Re: crossflow/pinto Minor?
I would like a 1275, though bit to pricey as the ones I've seen complete for sale, even to tune them would cost a bomb, a xflow would save me a lot of money and think they are brilliant engines, my brother has a austin a40 farina with a 1600 xflow and the thing flies! Currently I'm enjoying the 1098, winter time I will decide ;)
