Another update from Guy, thought I’d post it, as I fell off my chair laughing

Today at GCRE

I tell you. I go away for two days and everybody thinks I've shut GCRE! Sure is the way to make the phone ring and email to go mad.

Did my best to catch up today and help everyone..

Even got to pull the VX for Eugene Sellors as you can see. I can tell very quickly that she's been thru an 'overhaul' - wrong (non C2 bearings at front end and seals not vulcanised - hard). Bit of help from Andy Beavis and Wurth UK with one of his miracle products...

I wish fcuking amateurs would stop messing with this uber-valuable stuff and painting it red and breaking bits off and using industrial galvanised M8 studding etc etc... No doubt this one came from an expert in Germany as ever....

Crikey is it so difficult to do it properly? Obviously it is. I've overhauled more of these blowers than anyone in the world.

Scoring of casing and rotors are a sure sign of the wrong front bearings. This blower has been exposed to chronic back-pressure - hence all the carbon everywhere incl the seal vents. Poppet valve engines like the Fiat are very prone to this. Could be the exhaust system and other things...

Mercifully the precious gears are OK - watch this space. All stripped and in the decarbonising tank now..

Next op for Eugene - head strip....

Haha, I think he’s had a spell of people claiming all sorts, what I will say in his defence, he’ll guarentee his work, then his engine will rev past 10K be future proofed for another 30 years, and deliver -+200 Bhp at the wheels. I challenge anyone else with the experience Guy has to deliver that and to his price point. It’s going to be fun.

Some car pics, first time the cars been out of the shop, seen daylight and cleaned the workshop floor, the dolly wheel set had changed everything. Not sure why I’ve waited so long to get on, makes all the difference. Now to finishing the rear and wheel arches, then it’s rollcage time.

More from Guy: condition appears to be bad, there was now way in hell this engine was a bolt in job and run, so pleased I lied to stop that going into my car. It wouldn’t have made 50 miles and killed it. At least now it stands a chance to see another day, enjoy the photos

It’s all relative really, all I can say there will only be two MM running GC volumex motors in th UK, and that’s good enough for me!

Long time no update, been busy in the shop working on a new project and sorting layout of the shop. GC has had personal issue to deal with that has meant most of his worked stop for a few weeks, now his back on form, some images of my head and case from Guy

My build has been on hold, due to health issues with GC, without my engine i see no reason to continue my build. I do not want compromise my build, putting in a standard 2.0TC just isn't going to do.
as and when the engine build looks as if back on the cards then the moggy will get uncovered and have the honoured centre position of shop, until as such its motorbike time only.
Gives a new meaning to live for the day.

Just curious if the rotary wash machine in the selection of photo's from August 9th is a "Guyson" unit, it looks like a Formula 750 to me.

Dear all, it’s with saddest news that I share with you of Guy Croft’s passing, to all who know and respect his knowledge this sadly will all be now missed. So what does that hold for me, well I’ve sunk a thick end of cash into a half finished engine, but like other TC moggy owners, well all help each other. On thing is for sure, I will have one of two GC 2.0 Lancia volumex motors in a MM, in the Uk and that’s it, there ain’t goner be another two like it, one day Steven and I will 1/4 for a giggle, until that day, the build goes on.

What sad news, Guy Croft racing engines has been one of those institutions and he produced some excellent engines. RIP.
