Morris minor friendly MOT garage- Nottingham area

Post by leperky »

Hi.
My usual MOT garage in Nottingham has been taken over and the Minor friendly mechanics are nowhere to be seen! Do any members in this approximate area have any recommendations for a MInor friendly garage for an MOT please? Don't mind a bit of traveling....
Thanks in advance.

I know a good chap in Melbourne, Derby DE73 - if you're still looking. He's called "country vehicle services" and he's done quite a bit on my convertible recently and got it running better than ever.

Hi

If anyone is still looking I have found the garage in Ruddington, on Easthorpe Street NG11 6LA to be very good and knowledgeable.

Hi,
Perhaps it would be a good idea if we created and posted on here, with the help of the site administrators, a list of classic friendly MOT stations and Garages up and down the UK, in a format that allowed for it to be updated as and when required.
What do people on here think?
Best wishes,
Mike.

I think that would be a good idea because I've been looking for a Minor garage on Nottingham/Leicester border for ages and can't find one.

Can I ask why would you need a classic friendly MOT station?
Surely all MOT stations will test the car the same be it a three year old or 53 years old with allowances for its age with regard to emissions etc.
I have had a variety of classics and always used the same MOT station I had my modern tested and never had any issues.

I pride myself that I have never had a car fail an MOT whilst in my possession so cannot see why it should change for my minor.

I am not looking for a Classic MOT station, just a service garage.

I think I can say what we mean by that is a Garage whose staff are a little bit older, or enthusiasts themselves, so understand the foibles of classic and vintage cars and will make allowances for such.
Not just go failing them for things it shouldn't fail on, because they don't understand or care about 'old' cars.
That's my take on it anyway, someone else may explain it better.

While we're at it my 'starter for ten' is: 'We only MOT' in Mansfield.
Perhaps an unexpected choice but their staff are older than some places and they seem to know what to look out for in a classic, plus they only do what they 'say on the tin', so no advantage for them in finding imaginary faults.
I've MOT'd Minors and MGB's with them in the past.
Best wishes,
Mike.
