I'm not keen on the internal/external tooth washers but conical spring washers have never let a bolt come loose for me. However if I ever build a rocket I'll probably add some loctite to the threads :D

i always thought nyloc nuts replace the need for spring / shakeproof washers? personally i've never had a nyloc come loose, and i know my 'modern' '74 Midget uses nyloc extensively, so why not on the Moggie?

Almost every manufacturer stopped using them in the 70's because they were proved to offer no benefit, best practice now is to design the joint with as little compliance as possible and torque the bolt correctly. In safety critical joints the addition of a loctite patch or nyloc type prevailing torque device is usually required.

Those links are an interesting read, I believe nyloc is the way to go then , but is using the original fixings a good or bad idea , iv spent a great deal of shillings, mainly on steering and suspension components so they are fresh , new and correct ? I may need nyloc nuts to hold my twin X rockets on the side of the Morris so I can reach beyond our atmosphere

Don’t you just hate it when your all ready for a weekend on the Morris , and your daily decides to pop an engine cooling pipe ,sending antifreeze all over the drive !
Not a happy bunny today, already spent £200 on the dam thing.

Ok , my every day car is now working and I was on my merry way to the Morris this morning to get something done to it , so today iv fitted the back section of the floor ( upright ) which I made , then got the floor ready to fit , then proceeded to weld in , the front outer corner of the floor is being a bit of a pain tho but il sort that out in a week or two . Here are some pics .

Hi all , it’s been a while posting , after all the snow and floods going on , didn’t get round to the Morris at all , but today iv managed a little more, mainly welding in the rear inner sill/ floor section and spring hanger and a few seat belt anchors then cleaned up the horrid black primer they use to protect the new panels ,

The rear shackle looks like it might whack the chassis at full compression, like mine did (even though never welded). Not sure if this helps...
