My car came to me with the marina pedal box, and yes space is pretty tight. all the pedal through the floor stuff has gone! None of the standard zetec manifolds will fit, or carbs. Throttle bodies might fit but it would be extremely tight!

Im not 100% sure what I am doing for the inlet yet but it will involve a custom made (by me) plenum. Its either going to be built from scratch out of mild steel or a severly modified YB cosworth one.

I will be using the standard zetec sandwich plate (that comes with the alloy inlet manifolds) which holds the standard injectors and I will be bolting the plenum up to that. I am planning on megasquirting it, but I also have enough bits and pieces to run it on standard management

I'm hoping that I will end up with 150 to 160hp (eventually with new cams etc), but with the current engine spec I suspect 120-130 is realistic.

And I have seen your ST170 minor build!

sold as ford PCD but are actually 4 x 4.5 so need to come up with a pcd conversion.

only loose on the studs and car is still jacked up...

Slot mags are soooo common :P

Is it not worth selling them and buying some the right PCD?

Not as common as minilites...

And given there is no suspension/axles on it at the moment... its not a major job to do a PCD conversion!

Between us we have worked out how to do the PCD conversion...

There will be a little machining involved, but it looks like we are going to use Stag front hubs, with modified stag stub axles pressed into the minor swivel and use stag disks with 4 pot calipers - custom disc brackets will be required!

The rear will be a Ford English axle with redrilled drums and an adaptor plate installed behind the halfshaft flange (and additional holes in the halfshaft flange!)

or use a SE5a Scimitar back axle, much stronger, only a 2" wider track and the right PCD (oh and you can fit a jag LSD).

Like the one sitting next to it??

The problem with that is the weight! Its REALLY heavy and too wide really.

I've spent years trying to find 14" slotmags on a ford PCD and haven't managed :( so finding other wheels isn't an option!

But I won an inlet manifold on ebay last night... it will need some modding but should work :D

Yesterday I managed to get a pair of complete triumph hubs with the correct stud pattern etc :D

and I picked up the shiney new inlet manifold. I have not found any off the shelf manifolds which will work, and I was just about to start fabricating one when this one came up

Image

I believe its a griffin plenum.

Its too tall and will foul, but all I will need to do is cut the "log" down a bit at the back and weld a new bit in (saving me a lot of time and effort!)

I am also going to have to mod it slightly to take an idle control valve - the idle is controlled on this manifold by a bleed screw (how pants is that!)

I got a cheap MGB axle on ebay the other day too (I just have to collect it!)

So that gives me the stud pattern I need - BUT the MGB axle (like the scimitar one) is very heavy so it may be a temporary solution

A small amount more progress...

I picked up a celica axle the other day - KalKat ground all the brackets & coil spring pads etc off, and we both mounted it on to the car Using all new bushes, hardware and springs. (Its all going to come off again at some point to paint  ) But, the axle doesn't appear to be on square, the gap between the tyres and the front of the wing are significantly different - requiring some investigation.

I must admit, it was only because we needed to get it off the axle stands to get it far enough in to the garage to get my focus in (Its semi died and it was peeing down - and I wanted to get it inside to fix!).

Oh and I might need to do something with the rear wings :o

So... after pushing it inside to fix my daily, then somebody elses van, then this, then that, then the other etc...

I finally dragged it out yesterday (I have to move the workshop).

The front wheels are finally on, using a nice simple solution - Marina/Ital commercial hubs which have the correct PCD, and its rolling on its final wheels :D

But now its out, I'm going to have to get on with it. Its been so long since it all happened that I am going to have to reappraise where I am and start again in some places.

I will try to spend an evening a week or so doing bits and pieces, hopefully getting it moving forwards!

Are any "wide" trav rear arches available at the moment? 2" wider should do the job...
