1962 4 door full restoration

Post by jimbob60 »

Hi all,

Myself and my partner have embarked on a complete resto of this little car. I started around this time last year and progress has been slow and at points non existent.[frame]Image[/frame]
As you can see plenty of welding and new panels will be required.[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

Sorry about the photos being on the side![frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

Braces have now been welded across the doors. 1st bit of mig welding I've done!

Any hints on which bit to replace first would be greatly received. I was thinking of doing the floor one side at a time then the sills then centre crossmember.

It looks like a fair bit has been cut out already, you need to be carefull not to cut to much away, floors then sills would be a good starting point, tack it all together first and weld in small lengths to avoid distortion.

I wish that was cut away, that's rust that has removed the metal for me!

I probably sound like a stuck record, but have you ensured that all the doors actually fit before bracing the shell? There is very little holding the bottom of your A and B pillars and it's quite likely they will have moved.

Regards
Rod

Hi Rod

When the car first arrived it was in fact complete. Well I say complete engine gearbox and doors were all in place and closed no problems, thankfully! Any help comments are always gratefully received.

Just so you can see this is how she arrived before the strip down began.[frame]Image[/frame]
