On drivers' side bulkhead near regulator box.

If 1960 should be an oval affair with 2 "cells"; top one with chassis number prefix M/A2S3, one beneath is SEE ENGINE.
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

I would also like to know the date of manufacture as my insurance company believe it to be 1956 with a 948 cc but reg doc has 1960 first registered.

There is a world of difference between 1956 and 1960. Both dates will afford you "Historic Vehicle" classification (i.e. Cheaper insurance and free Road Tax) but the earlier date will also exempt you from compulsory MOT requirements, although the car still needs to be road-worthy and safe.
The easiest, but a bit costly, route would be to get a Heritage Certificate from the British Motor Museum at

Yes is see, must be 1960, M / A2S3 839557

On another note, my key only seems to work in the ignition and not in driver + passenger doors or boot lid.

There is a number on the ignition but what is the best route to getting all my locks working!

Im peeking out of the window too often with my morris unlocked!

Better with the body number - small thin plate fixed with 2 screws high up on the nearside bulkhead, under the bonnet. This determines exactly when the body was made - and is usually 'overlooked' by anyone tampering with the car's age/identity. There will of course be a chassis number on the plate on the offside of the bulkhead - and while I'm pretty sure it will apply to a Minor- is it THIS Minor ?
