exhaust

Post by Willie »

Only related to clutch judder in that judder will cause the exhaust to hit the
body! This is a problem on the Minor because, over the years, the shape of
the exhaust system seems to have altered slightly i.e. the first bend after the
manifold joint tends to hit the bodywork at the bottom of the engine bay and,
if you move the exhaust to stop this the it then starts to hit the centre cross
member! It is fairly easy to set the system so that it is ok in normal driving
but it then tends to whack the centre cross member on start-up. My system
is ok at the moment but only after a great deal of tweaking and modification
of the exhaust hanging straps.

So, basically, live with it unless in a major tweaking and modification mood.

Thanks Willie. I assume 'judder' is what it sounds like [jerky movement] and I'd know if my car had it. I can live with this noise but do get some funny looks sometimes.

BMC,

I've got oil on the split pin and clutch judder.

I'm hoping to change the clutch over the Chrismas hols. Where's the oil coming from and is it an easy fix? Is changing the clutch relatively simple?
Questions, questions, questions :) :)

Thanks,

Iddy
First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
