no compression in 3/4 cylinders

Post by Scottishmoggy »

As some of you know for the last little while Duncan has been a bit difficult to start (See post entitled 'Poor starting' for further info)..But I got him going after towing him yesterday. Today we went for his service and MOT...but after a very pleasant 20 mile drive he lost power and stopped only metres from the garage. The garage towed him. He has no compression on 3/4 cylinders, which implies either the valves, head gasket or pistons.
Can anybody offer any advice...club spares list some items but not all...How easy would it be to get spares...and what sort of price are we talking about...
(I've also posted this on the Series MM register page)
cheers Chris
(and Duncan in another garage refusing to start!)
PS Dunacn is a 1952 Series MM (sidevalve)

If it's both adjacent cylinders with no compression then it's the head gasket blown between them.
