clutch probs?

Post by clockman »

HELP! I cannot get my car into gear it is as if the clutch is not working. The car was seviced at the end of Nov and had been used untill mid Dec but only once or twice since then, it has not been moved for 4-5 weeks could anything be sticking? if so can I hit the offending part with a hammer? or is the problem more serious.
My car is a 1969 two door.

Likely the clutch plate has 'stuck' to the flywheel - although unusual for this to happen in such a short time ! I'm assuming the pedal goes down as usual etc - and it's not all 'floppy' ? Start the engine and let it warm through thoroughly for about 20 minutes - the heat soak may loosen the clutch. If still no go - switch off - make sure clear road in front - select 1st gear and put foot hard down on the clutch pedal - and start the engine ! Hopefully this will break the clutch free from the flywheel. If it still doesn't work - next stage involves tow starting the car - in gaer - with foot on clutch to see if that will break it free!
