The crankshaft end is different.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

They are quite expensive to convert, so not really worth it. Have a chat with Jonathon as he's worked out a way to covert them, it doesn't come cheap though!

An inline engine can be converted relatively easily for use in a Mini - but the reverse is not true. Crank change is the easy bit!
You can however use the pistons/conrods/camshaft/oil pump/cylinder head/manifolds and carbs etc.

Rear seal at the crank rear bearing. The Mini engine doesn't have one ! It also doesn't have a thread for the oil pick-up pipe to screw into - although that could be sorted easily enough - the rear seal is not so easy. There are parts available to do it - but at a price !

Or approach a specialist who offers the convrsion. I'm not allowed (moderator/ex-employee) to say more, but I'd beg to suggest that it's the best idea,

I'm sure it's the best idea alright - but are 1275 inline engines so rare that the high cost of converting a Mini engine is justified ? I doubt it!
