my first minor, engine bay diagram?
hi all, finally got my first morris minor. 1965 two door in white. it was half stripped when i bought it and first job was to build it up and make a list of anything missing or needing replaced (long list)! I have been making good progress with the bodywork but am not much use with engines, which is unfortunate as much of the engine bay was in the boot. Have ordered a haynes manual but was wondering if anyone knows of any online information on the mechanics of a minor?

A BOOK THAT I FOUND REALLY GOOD IS 'ORIGINAL MORRIS MINOR' BY RAY NEWELL. IT DOES NOT COVER THE MECHANICS BUT SHOWS EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO ENSURE EVERY GOES BACK IN THE RIGHT PLACE INCLUDING THE ENGINE BAY. TRY A SEARCH ON EBAY, THEY OCCASIONALLY COME UP FOR A REASONABLE PRICE.
REGARDS,
JOHN

There are lots of pictures here, and on the internet, that's as close as you'll get to an engine bay diagram.
Take some pictures and feel free to ask questions here if you get stuck.

You know, diagrams would be handy to have...perhaps I'll doodle some.
The way to a man's heart may be making food, but the way to my heart is buying me car parts!
Come read about my Minor at An American Moggie.

Why label them?
It's a jigsaw puzzle now.

It's ordering the missing pieces that will be fun then.... "I need four blue angle things that hold the black cables to the white sticky out things and a big red cross that goes on the front..."

Why not make contact with your local branch and at the very least you will have other cars to compare your with, I can't suggest one as you havent filled in your location in your details.
Cheers

Re: my first minor, engine bay diagram?
Good idea Kevin.
rcharman until you put the engine together you don't even know if there is anything missing, maybe it's all there.
How about some pictures of the bits, and the engine as it stands?
You'll need a gasket set for sure, but the manual for any four stroke petrol engine will give you the names of the parts.
We aren't the local car spares place who may look at you funny if you don't know the name of what you need, we are here to help.

If you would have read my post properly, I asked jmaster78 if this is what he was after (it was a question not a direction). At no point did I inform jmaster78 that this is what is needed and what has to be done to complete his engine assembly.
The information is found by obtaining a Morris Minor workshop manual (how to do it) and a Morris Minor Service parts list catalogue (what is needed).

Sorry Rod, I'd meant that post for jmaster78, I didn't scroll up far enough and copied your name instead.
