Hello, I'm gradually getting my minor prepared for its first MOT since 1994. Anyway I have a query about my clutch/gearbox. With the engine running, I get a bit of a crunch when I take gear lever out of reverse into neutral and then go to first gear. I have tried double de-clutching etc but still get a slight bang. No problem going through the box with engine off.
Could this be clutch adjusting rod needing small adjustment - and if so what way - or is it something more serious?
Many thanks in advance for any views

Re: Clutch adjustment
Try moving the lever towards second before engaging 1st, works for me.

Re: Clutch adjustment
I can't remember which way, but tighten the adjustment by turning the nut. Just don't overtighten or the clutch will wear.

Re: Clutch adjustment
yeh, likewise, with any non sincro 1st gear I always slip in to second before going in to 1st.
Dont engage the clutch in 2nd just slide the gear lever forward from 2nd to 1st.

Re: Clutch adjustment
Synchro is only fixed to 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears. You will soon get into the habit of selecting whichever gear is easiest before selecting 1st or reverse
