I'll be coiled again !
The car is now running well. Unfortunately the horn, wipers and indicators have stopped working . Could this be a result of the earthing out in the distributor? How do I sort it ? The fuses look o.k.
This car is driving me crazy!

Re: I'll be coiled again !
I would try removing both the fuses in the fuse block and using fine emery paper to thoroughly clean both the fuses themselves and the fuse block terminals; they often oxidise, leading to a poor contact.

Re: I'll be coiled again !
The horn is on a different fuse to the other two failures....so it may not be the fuses/holders - but no harm cleaning them all up.
Re: I'll be coiled again !
Have replaced fuses and cleaned holder. No joy.
Re: I'll be coiled again !
Check the engine-to-body earth strap and all earths relating to the affected items.

Re: I'll be coiled again !
You need a meter or a lamp with test probe leads - to start checking for voltage at the fuses and beyond.
Re: I'll be coiled again !
YES!
It was the fuse block. Just needed a wee clean.
Thanks for all the advice.

Re: I'll be coiled again !
So I did ! Couldn't have made a very good job first time round… Now how easy is it to replace the steering gaiters ?
Re: I'll be coiled again !
Very easy - half hour each side - assuming you have a ball joint splitter to pop the track rod end off the steering arm. be sure to release the TRE lock nut and check the TRE is free to rotate - BEFORE breaking the taper ... Use tie-wraps to secure the new gaiters. take care to NOT lose the tracking!
Re: I'll be coiled again !
Hello Again
Two Questions
!. How can I check that there is enough oil in the rack… I've read not to put more than ten shots from a grease gun in but not convinced the gun was working properly is there any way to check how much has gone in?
2.What is the TRE ?

Re: I'll be coiled again !
You will find the remains of the old oil in the gaiters when you take them off! Use grease - moly grease is best. It doesn't run away into the gaiters And yes - I thought it was obvious - Track Rod End..
