Another part id please!
Hi all,
Can anybody identity this part please?
Dad is sure that this is a part of the upgrade we're doing/have done in the past, possibly to do with the alternator and we can't quite figure out this piece of the jigsaw![frame][/frame]

Re: Another part id please!
It could possibly be an alternative mounting for the coil which was originally mounted on the dynamo by the bracket featured to the R/H rear of your picture but in front of the coil.
Try the coil on the bracket and see if it fits.

Phil: thankyou for that, we will look at that during our Thursday evening session working on the car and report back!
BMC: thankyou for that! The dot dot dot at the end of your sentence is leading us where? If you have any further clarification to make for us not in the know (and I apologise if I misunderstand your dots), it would be most appreciated...

Re: Another part id please!
Been discussed before - suspicion that stray alternating currents from the alternator may overheat the coil leading to early failure.

I believe the theory is firstly less vibration and second the coil may be better off mounted vertically, something to do with the oil inside.
Of course there are plenty of Minors running about with it in the normal position without issue! ;)
