Poly Bushes

I am sure there is plenty written here about all of this.
We have two Travellers a 1965 and a 1968 and a 1969 Austin badged van.
Over the last few years we have replaced the bushes from rubber to Poly ones from ESM.
The van seems happy with them. But the 1965 Traveller has moaned and groaned on the front end very soon after the fitting of them. This winter has seen us use the 1968 Traveller a bit more and she had her bushes fitted a few winters ago, now she's is also grunting groaning and other strange noises coming from the front, this is worse if its cold or the odd frosty morning. Does anyone know how to stop all these horrid noises, it does sound like something nasty is happening (but its not we have checked them out on more than one occasion, all is good underneath.

I suspect the problem just that polyurethane is harder than rubber and therefore less flexible at low temperatures.

Try spraying the bushes with a couple of applications of White Grease, some do say that they should be assembled with a coating of grease.

Grease the poly bushes (used as a generic term) with red rubber grease or white water pump grease on installation
Or go the whole hog and fit grease nipples as I have done.
Greasing the bushes never did my bushes any harm.

It might be worth a close inspection for cracks around the front suspension mounts like these..

Pretty much as above - although I suggest slackening the mounts - then spray in 'maintenance spray' or liquid grease - then put the weight back on syje suspension before retightening everything. Also check the front damper mounting bolts are tight! And drain/fill the damper with SAE 40 oil. It makes a BIG difference...
