Post by austerdriver »

Started to strip my project engines one is a 10 ma and the other 10v the 10ma has cam followers with small oil holes in the side and the 10 v doesn't which is the better? I think the ones with the small hole.

I would choose the ones that have less wear on the case hardening at the base, and check the internal surface where the push rods sit.

Used camshaft followers should not be used with z different camshaft and should also be kept to the same lobe.
Cam followers wear to the camshaft lobe and rapid wear of both camshaft and cam follower can take place if they are used with a different lobe/camshaft.
Camshaft followers are cheap and cheerful and easily obtained.

As regards the hole - so long as the cam followers are kept in sets - that is a set with the hole or a set without the hole it make no difference on a standard tune engine.

You can use new camshaft followers on a used camshaft but fitting used camshaft followers on a new camshaft should not be considered. New camshaft followers should always be used on a new camshaft.
