Hello
I have an MM which has a well worn ring gear on the flywheel, to the point where it really should be replaced.
Can anyone help with supplier and fitter please.
ESM are my local supplier for all things Minor, but they can't help.
Thanks in hope
Colin

Re: MM Ring gear
Hi Colin,
To clarify, are you referring to a Series MM Minor, or just MM as in 'Morris Minor' with an A-series engine? If it's the former, I suspect there are a few folks on here who might be able to help out and it might be worth posting in the Series MM section.

Re: MM Ring gear
As the MM side valve engine is virtually Morris 8 you could try:-
The Morris Eight Parts Centre (Dave Parrish)
83 Freemans Lane
Hayes
Middx
UB32NJ
tel: 01815737008
or:- http://www.spares-group.co.uk/

Re: MM Ring gear
Phil, I have tried one Morris 8 supplier but not your suggestion. Mine says the prewar 8 is not the same as the MM. Will try yours in the morning.
Liammonty, thanks for prompt reply. I was thinking I might get to a wider knowledge base.
Then I saw an advert for one in the current Magazine which arrived today, but he is not in yet - frustating!!
Fingers crossed

Re: MM Ring gear
For export markets BMC sold ring gears but for the UK they only sold complete flywheels, ISTR. I've fitted a new ring before that probably came from Aus, judging from the box.
102 teeth, 263mm OD, 228mm ID, if I've written it down correctly. The 803/946 is 104 teeth with a 4mm larger ID.

Dave Parrish died a number of years ago, I believe he was in his 80's when he died - I understand The Morris Eight Parts Centre hadn't been trading for some time.philthehill wrote:As the MM side valve engine is virtually Morris 8 you could try:-

Re: MM Ring gear
I am very sorry to hear that.
The Morris Eight Parts Centre is still listed on the web with no reference to Dave Parrish's passing so that is why I referenced it.
