Re: Fuel overflow
The problem is either a faulty float chamber valve or a punctured float.
To check the valve:-
Take the top off the float chamber, hold the float up to close the valve, blow into the inlet pipe and if the float valve is good it will not let any air past. If you can blow past the valve you will need to replace the valve.
If there is a distinct ridge on and around the male valve seat the valve will need replacing.
To check the float:-
Remove the float from the lid, place in hot water, if it is leaking you will see a stream of bubbles as the air expands and comes out of the hole in the float. If no bubbles the float is good. Check for wear where the float needle presses on the float lever.
Check for dirt in the float chamber and grit in and around the float needle valve. If dirty or gritty clean.
If all is good with the carb check please come back on here for further advice.

Re: Fuel overflow
Hi Phil , upon checking carefully it would appear ( so far ) that the problem was simply a loose Jubilee clip on the pipe to the carb! I will monitor it and thanks again for your comments should that not be the fault .

Re: Fuel overflow
Just a word of advice on those adjustable clips.
Jubilee are one of the better manufacturers, but that style of clip is never concentric, the best bet although it is not easily removed without destroying it and needing another clip, is a correctly sized double eared O clip, crimped on with pliers.
