Hmm just looked in my board preferences options and my PM choice is set to allow. Not sure why there's a problem.

Just tried again and it comes up as disabled private message receipt

Anyway back to your question.

I have just tried the latest type spider/star drive and slot drive 1275cc oil pumps into the small block oil pump cover and they do not fit. The body of the oil pump is too large a diameter to fit inside the cover. Reduction of the pump body diameter is not realistic because of how the top plate is secured
To overcome a similar problem with the sizing of the oil pump cover I used a Cooper S oil pump which has a reduced upper body dia but which has a very good delivery flow, the centre boss and the bolt pillars were reduced in height and one of the bolts was replaced with a countersunk screw. The pump cover was made slightly convex to clear the pump centre boss.
You can usually mix and match the pump drive shafts but the shaft to use is one with a key as there is a tendency for the rotor to spin on the drive shaft if there is no key and the oil is thick/cold.
See link to Calver:-

The modified Cooper S oil pump shown below has the pin drive keyed rotor/shaft fitted as it was last used with a 649 camshaft in a 1275cc block.

You appear to be back and available on PM and confirmed by a short test reply to your PM question.
