Greasing brake cylinders

Post by quee2646 »

I understand normal grease is to be avoided. Is copper grease better or a no-no as I suspect?

Couldn't find any red grease in Halfords! Can anyone recommend a substitute?

Thanks

Only red grease near brake seals / hydraulics. Halfords wont have a clue, try motor factors and places like that. I know my local motorists discount have it, I bought a 500g pot which will see me out !.

As above red brake grease only for brake seals and inside brake cylinders..

Here you go and in an amount and price that wont break the bank.

Use this type of grease for mechanical linkage as it will not wash away as it is water resistant.

Out of curiosity I clicked the link on white water resistant grease as I’d never heard of the stuff. Now every time I do anything on line ads for it pop up all over the place. Blooming computers!

I never was intending to buy it. When I grease the trunnions and old grease oozes out I smear that on the exposed linkage.
