SV engine.Missing bolt?
Just recomissioning a sidevalve. Oil pouring out from under the filter. removed filter housing and there is a bolt missing from the side face of the block below the filter (USHM3, 1952). Does anyone know if it is a plain short bolt with copper seal or is it a longer bolt to clamp the oil pump body into the block. Not shown in the manual. Arghhhh! Oily shoes and driveway.

Rob
The bolt in question I believe is shown in BMC Wksp Man illustration A26 and blocks off a oil gallery cross drilling which carries oil under pressure from the pump to the oil filter.
So to answer your question - the bolt/set screw is short with a copper washer under the head.

Awesome. Thanks, Phil (Font of all knowledge).
They must have changed the numbering system over the years since A26 on mine is an image of the head being lifted. (AKD530C, issue 4)

60 psi on the cranking handle alone. Looks like Phil has fixed it again.

AKD530 L.
Fig:- A26 is still of the head being lifted.
The illustration A26 issues 2, 54936I to which I referred is a cross sectional drawing of the engine.
Fig: A1 clearly shows the bolt/set screw head.
As Mutley and Dastardly would say "Figs and illustrations"
