Reconditioned Gearboxes
Hello again,
Just in case I have really broken my gearbox, can anyone recommend a supplier of reconditioned gearboxes for a 1970 Morris Traveller?
Thanks,
Johnnie

Got mine from Charles Ware - really smooth and lovely whine
Re: Reconditioned Gearboxes
If you indicated which region you're in it would help. Most reputable Minor specialists should be able to supply a decent reconditioned gearbox (albeit usually quite expensive), or you could have a bash at fixing it yourself (as I have done) - they are relatively straightforward to work on, particularly if you follow this excellent guide by the Dorset branch of the MMOC:

Re: Reconditioned Gearboxes
Thank you for this, I am in West Yorkshire, the article is brilliant and it is a job I would like to try, but it is a workshop job and up to now Olwyn has been the car I use every day. So, I guess it is time to find a reconditioned one and then work on the one I take out. There is always so much to learn, happily learn, with an old car.Chipper wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 9:39 pm If you indicated which region you're in it would help. Re: Reconditioned Gearboxes
There is a chap called Philip Wright in the Craven Old Wheels Society who does Morris Minor gearbox repairs, he lives not far from me in Silsden, W. Yorks.
I don't have his contact details, but it would probably be easy to to get them via the club.

Hello Phil,
Thank you for this. I will try and find him. I live in Oakworth, so really close to Silsden. Best wishes, Johnnie

Thank you, I usually get my spares from Charles Ware and I will have a look. I expect they will be a premium price. Best wishes, Johnniefiredrake1942 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 9:24 pm Got mine from Charles Ware - really smooth and lovely whine

Yup, wasn't the cheapest, but transformed the drive, in terms of smoothness of gear change and noise (in as far as Minor boxes are ever quiet and smooth) and backed up by a decent warranty too.You get what you pay for.
