Valve springs unequal length
I have a spare unleaded 1098 Head which was damaged in store; one of the valves was bent and cracked the guide. In course or refurbishing it I find some of the springs are shorter by approx 1/8”. Is this within tolerances or should I replace them?

Re: Valve springs unequal length
The free length of the single valve spring (Pt No: AEA311) fitted to a 1098cc cylinder head should be 1.75".
If the valve springs do not conform to that length they should be replaced.
Try and obtain genuine Terry's valve springs Pt No: 451-458 as they are the best standard production springs.
