Marina 1275 oil filter threads

Post by moggiegeek »

Wondering about fitting an oil cooler on uprated 1275 A+ marina ribbed engine which I am rebuilding.
I anticipate doing some towing so think it would be beneficial.
I need to know the thread size/type/pitch of the remote take off from the top of the block in order to buy the correct sandwich plate.
Any other advice welcome

The oil filter threads are 3/4" x 16TPI UNF.
The oil filter retaining threaded piece is quite short and can easily be unscrewed and needs to be centred - I would recommend that Loctite thread and seal is used when refitting as the threaded insert can be inadvertently screwed in too far to be effective in holding the filter/sandwich plate if care is not taken.
I have the MOCOL sandwich plate (unfortunately no number on it) fitted to the 'A' Plus engine in my Minor but for the purposes of using a remote oil filter.
I would advise using a oil thermostat/oil cooler bypass valve so that the oil is not overcooled.
