Total brake failure.

Post by arnoldsally »

My brakes had started to go a bit soft so I thought I would order all new brake cylinders and a master cylinder and do a full refurbish.
Ordered them all, when they arrived I thought I will change them tomorrow.
I popped out the day I was going to fit them, I was on the A38 and just coming off the slip road and "no brakes at all" used the hand brake to slow down. Lucky for me a local garage I know was only a mile away and I had all the bits in the car so left it with them. When I picked the car up they told me it was the master cylinder that had totally failed so that was a close one.

Let this be a warning to all forum readers. Failing brakes are not something to continue driving with! Lesson learned, I hope?
