When I fitted the Wolseley brakes very little air entered the system as I clamped the flexi pipes and a plastic bag on the filler pot. On rebuilding the brake system four year's ago I did if I recall having trouble bleeding it, but then I had no remote fluid pot fitted. I believe I pressurized the MC with a bicycle pump from a modified top hat cap, once done it was no trouble at all and the peddle was always firm. May try this again after checking out all the member's ideas.

Whilst you can get special tools for clamping the brake pipe it really is the worst thing you can do - it is so easy to damage the internal lining of the flexible brake hose which can lead to the symptoms you are experiencing.

If a clamp must be used this is the type of clamp I would use. With reasonable force applied it does not damage the internal structure of the hose.
