Bonnet catch slider lower plate

Post by niftyrodman »

 Underneath the slider plate is a u shaped plate with fixed nuts either end . On one side there is a lip which I presume faces the return spring and acts as a guide when the head of the bonnet latch forces the slider apart to locate itself below.
I would be grateful for an answer. Am I right?
Thanks

Thanks Simmitc The fixed plate piece (16) doesn't show the underneath lip in that drawing, but I think Ive worked it out. When the bonnet is open the spring pulls the slide towards itself half blocking the hole. When the bonnet is closing, the peg has to force the locking plate hole open, so that means there is a force to the spring side of the hole. The lip acts as a guide for the head of the "peg", and it is the spring side that the lip goes towards. Thanks for your post. Its interesting, Moss has all these detailed catalogues, but when it comes to some esoteric part, they dont have it, and I understand that we are going back over 60 years, but as you illustrated, the drawings are very handy for orientation.
