ok..have ordered the various parts including two hardened half shafts from Charles Ware so should receive in a week. Any thoughts as to how long this might take using two people (one experienced and one willing..?) Two hours, four hours?
I need to budget time and space (will be done in my garage!)
Suddenly ....no clutch and no ability to get in any gear

Re: Suddenly ....no clutch and no ability to get in any gear
I would budget a time of 3 hrs to remove the two original half-shafts, the diff and broken segment of the half-shaft from the diff. The broken piece of the half-shaft will either fall out of the diff or it will be a right bu--er to remove.
You will need plenty of room to the side of the car to extract the half-shaft, at least the length of the half-shaft plus 6".
Make sure that you get all the broken metal out of the axle casing as if not the metal will just grind and wear the diff etc.
Good luck.
