Might the club buy it for hiring-out? Could be a useful asset.

I would have loved a jig like that when I was doing the restoration in the mid 90's. What a gem!

24 bids but only 3 bidders, so far. Must be a good purchase for a club such as this?

I expect the jig to sell well in excess of £1k and possibly nearer to £2k.

A must have for any self respecting Minor restoration company.

£500! Absolute bargain, provided you have the space for it. Very jealous!

Richard
You forgot the £0.02. :D
I totally agree with you - an absolute bargain.
I am just surprised that it did not go for more.
There was a lot of interest with 31 bids but not 31 separate bidders.

In reality, there would be a very small market for such a thing. Most of us would only use it once at the most and how would we collect it? (particulary during the present period of lockdown) Where would we store it? How useful would it REALLY be? Those involved in restoration probably have everything they need for the job now and I don't suppose any business is about to start up specialising in Morris Minor restoration just now are they?
I guess the people bidding all thought the same thing - that it was worth a gamble at £500.00. In theory it might be worth more but the value of anything is simply the price somebody is prepared to pay for it at that time  At least it has hopefully gone to a good home where it will be made use of.

The type of jacking ramps shown in the link have been around for some time.

H.E. Carlifts of Maltby Yorkshire have a similar item advertised for sale in the August 1964 edition of Car Mechanics.

This type of jacking ramps does come up for sale on 'e' bay on a regular basis.

A current variation of the adjustable jacking ramps:-

I've got a pair of them, bought in the 1970's, but tend only to use them in the one set position as cranking them up with a car sitting on top of them is real donkey work and nearly as bad lowering the blighters when you've finished!

Can they be cranked using a power drill?

Never thought of that. Certainly, it'd have to be a drill with a fair bit of grunt and you'd have to fabricate some substantial sort of hook to clamp in the drill chuck that would connect with the winding eye on the jack. I might give it a go but I'd be a little nervous about burning out my drill. Will you buy me a replacement if I do? 8)

Or maybe weld a nut to the jack and wind it with a socket on the drill. It would need smooth running well oiled threads. Perhaps lift each side an inch at a time to reduce stress on the drill.

Will I buy you a new drill? Haha... No!

An interesting 'A' Series camshaft.

Suitable for an 8 port head, dry sump and fuel injection.

The dry sump pump is driven off the front worm and the fuel injection pump driven off the front nose of the camshaft.
