Ppg is on the money! Check for spark immediately it stops. That will sort out, in a moment, whether it is ignition related or not.

Carry a spare, known to be working, plug. It only takes a few seconds to remove a plug lead. If no spark, check for spark at the king lead. That will sort out if it is at the coil, or later in the system. If no spark at the king lead, it could be the coil - but also a poor connection warming up and ging high resistance

Then a simple check with a jump lead from battery to coil will solve that choice.

If coil and connections are OK, it is then easy enough to determine if the fault is on the LT or HT side with a couple of further checks (open and close points with a screwdriver, or similar - if no spark at the king lead it is the LT side. If there is a good spark at the king lead, suspect the rotor arm or distributor cap. A strong or weak spark will also give some indication.

If all is well with the ignition system, then concentrate on the fuel system.

Simple diagnostics will save time, effort - and money, too.
