SU Pancake filter: correct filter?

Post by jagnut66 »

Hi,
I am fitting the below SU Pancake filter to my car but is what is inside it at present really the correct filter element?
It looks like two slices of grey foam to me.......
If not, any recommendations as to where to source one from will be gratefully received.
Many thanks for any help.
Best wishes,
Mike.

I have a very similar filter on my traveller and it works well for the last 12 months, however I had the same type of filter on my convertible and I had problems with hesitating and starting. I reverted back to the original as a result and had no further problems...why I dont know??

Foam is the usual filter medium these days but if that SU filter is an original SU item there would have been a metal gauze inside.
I have no idea currently where you could obtain a metal gauze suitable for the air filter.

Here is the same air filter from Burlen fuels:-

Here is a similar air filter but branded MG - note the foam insert being used as the filter medium:-

Thanks Richard, I have sent a message to Burlen / SU asking them the question.
Best wishes,
Mike.
