Minor Clutch

Post by Garyjohndavies »

Putting a Morris Ital 1275 engine in a Splitscreen ,with a Ford type 9 gearbox .
Would it make the clutch too heavy, if it were up graded from a spring type ,( Morris Minor ) ,to the stronger Diaphram type . The operation is mechanical ,not hydraulic .

The diaphragm clutch will be a lot heavier but you can overcome that especially if you want to retain the mechanical linkage by increase the length of the pedal arm on the relay shaft by 5/8" between hole centers.
Fit a poly bush or hard plastic bush to the chassis pivot point for the clutch relay shaft. The rubber bush will not last long with the stronger clutch.
