Rear axle - size of large nut
I need to replace rear axle seals due to oil leaking into brake drum. Can anybody tell me the size of the socket that I will need to undo the large nut. Many thanks.

1 7/8" A/F.
If you look at the start of the mechanical section the majority (including the hub nut) of nut/bolt/thread are posted in the chart(s) shown.

It's not the sort of thing you use every day but I did purchase a socket for this but, I seem to remember turning the chamfer off the end to fit the shallow but better.
If your anywhere near me (Southend, Essex) your welcome to borrow it.

I have one of these also (though acquired from Bull Motif before they stopped selling Minor parts) and can second the recommendation and statement about how much easier they make the job of removing these nuts.I bought one of these on ebay, makes the job so easy
Best wishes,
Mike.

Re: Rear axle - size of large nut
Bull Motif sold their Minor business to ESM in the Autumn of 2019.
They are still in business and are concentrating on the A35 and classic Mini side of things.
