Distributor drive repositioning?

Made a cock a doodle diddley up inserting the above drive on my A+ rebuild.
It is now in place in the car and I need to move it by one tooth to bring the dizzy in the best position, but could not withdraw the drive from the block. It screws out to clear the cam then stops abruptly as though there is something in the way.
Any thoughts please?

Is the gear catching on the block at the base of the distributor bore?

A bit of carefull manuevering should get it out.

It must be as it feels pretty solid,so something is in the way. I am sure that I have removed one before?

I think you have to twist it to keep it in mesh with the cam as you remove it to keep it all aligned , i assume you are using a long bolt screwed into the drive to get it out?

I have the a+ drive on our a series but the adaptor sleve is on the distributor, thus enabling me to drop thd drive in the sump!

Yes its on a long length of 5/16 of studding. Cant work out what is in the way?

Silly question: Have you removed the drive retaining block into which the dizzy sits? I'm sure you have, but if not then it would definitely stop the drive coming out.

Have you set N°1 piston at TDC on its firing stroke before you try to pull the shaft ?, It might be a crank web that is in the way.
I did mine recently and that is the position I did it in, there is a diagram in the manual to show you the final position of the distributor drive slot in the shaft.
I turned mine by one tooth to get the vacuum advance further away from the oil pressure switch etc, when an Accuspark is fitted they need retarding more than if points are fitted, and everything gets a bit close with the standard shaft position. One tooth will move the distributor 40°.

Not a silly question, but the A+ block does not use a drive retaining block.

To Kevin, yes, valves rocking on NO 4. I will try different position(s).

Thanks for pointing in the correct direction. All sorted by playing with crank position. Nowhere near TDC though.
