63 Ribbed Gearbox

Post by FosterS »

Quick question
Should the gear lever be sprung loaded so as to be held in the 3rd-4th gear gate.
It's a long time since I drove one and it just feels wrong.

When in neutral, the lever flops freely from side to side. Pressure is required to push sideways to allow selection of reverse, but if not moved backwards, then it will spring back to the floppy position rocking happily betwen 1-2 and 3-4.

The lever is spring loaded to stop you accidentally selecting reverse when you really want first.

I thought that to the case, I'll just have to get used to it again.

Thanks
