Ahhhh Sainted electrical wizards, any answers please ...
mucking about trying to get the speedo back into place I think I shorted out the voltage stabiliser, or it just chose that moment to fail
got a replacement 2nd hand one and the Smiths No matched, easy replacement.
now my fuel gauge goes very hard to the right when full, and reading just below 1/2 way, i run out of fuel
any tips so i can get the gauge to read correctly ?

Check the voltage and replace if not to specification.

Re: Fuel gauge reading too high
Do you have a multimeter or Voltmeter ?
Check the output of the voltage stabiliser.... 10V.

thank you John,
a most helpful and useful article
I'm not an electrician or electronics engineer, my skills lie elsewhere, so a step by step guide is great
