Temperature sender adapter
Apologies for the continued questioning around the temp gauge on my Morris Minor 1000.This apparently simple task is turning into a nightmare!!!!
I've finally got it all ready only to discover that the adapter which holds the sender is way to big for the block. The blanking plug actually fits into the adapter so I'm assuming that the sender thread is 5/8UNP. (I think)
I need an adapter which will take the 5/8 sender and then screw into the block, but as in the image the sender has an angled seat which is secured and sealed when screwed into the adapter. So I think I need a 5/8 female to 5/8 male with an angled seat for the sender???
Could someone advise if this is correct, the part needed, its actual name and where I could get one???

Re: Temperature sender adapter
Hi,
Is this for a water temperature gauge or an oil temperature gauge?
Best wishes,
Mike.

Re: Temperature sender adapter
For water, of course. It fits to a cylinder head of an MGB, but not to the one of my Morris Minor's 948cc.

Re: Temperature sender adapter
It was a serious inquiry, as there is such a thing as an oil temp gauge, see attached link. For water, of course.
So no need for your snotty reply.
I was only interested in helping..........

Re: Temperature sender adapter
This is the TE5 adaptor I bought and put into my block, in place of the blanking plug. This is what you’re looking for I think -

Re: Temperature sender adapter
Thank you! A week ago I ordered this one: https://www.holden.co.uk/p/adaptor_5_8_ ... _070_017?s I'm not sure, if it's the same one that you recommended. Now I'm just waiting for delivery to Hamburg in Germany that may take a few days longer after Brexit. If it won't fit, I will try yours.MorrisJohn wrote: ↑Mon May 31, 2021 4:19 pm This is the TE5 adaptor I bought and put into my block, in place of the blanking plug.
