MM Split Case Rear Axle - Bearing Replacement

Post by Ian46 »

I currently have my axle broken down so I can inspect parts and overhaul before building up and re-installing.

I have all the parts I need with the exception of the 2no thrust bearings that carry the differential cage, which I am having trouble tracking down. None of the more high profile suppliers appear to stock them.

Can someone please point me to a supplier of these bearings?

Thanks in anticipation.

Take them in to a local bearing supplier which you will probably find with google. They should measure them and be able to offer replacements.
Take what you are fitting the bearing to so that they can measure any radiuses on the shaft.

Sounds like a good idea Paul, I hadn’t thought of that.

However, I made contact with the Morris Register over the weekend with my query and they came back to me immediately informing me that they have the bearings in stock.

I’ve ordered two and they are on their way!

That is a standard bearing that was used on many differentials. I have the same 19LJ35 R&M in my MG TD. It is a metric bearing and the modern equivalent is an SKF 7207B measuring 35x72x17mm.
Hope this helps
