EBay Ford disc conversion!!!

Post by Timffy »

I have a kit purchased from EBay which uses the Ford disc mounted on the original morris hub. It’s now no longer available on EBay and I’m panicking that I’ve got something dangerous.
Can anyone shed light on this kit, please don’t go into weather I should have bought other kits, I need help from other cheap scape like me who has used or attempted to fit this kit.
Given it’s supposed to be a rather important part of the car I’d really appreciate info before I fit and kill myself or more importantly someone else!
Thanks
Tim

I'm not quite getting what you're saying... have you got an image of what the kit includes?

A search of eBay brought up this seller/item:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Morris-minor ... 7675.l2557

I presume those are the ones?

Seems the seller has sold quite a lot of the kits. If they are the kit then I'm clearly more of a cheapskate than the OP, since I reckon £350 to be a massive amount of money :D

Most of these kits seem to be £500 plus

I’ve been considering this kit as well. I’ve spoken with the seller and had several other positive comment from others who have fitted exactly the same ‘kit’ without problems.

I have no first hand experience only the recommendations of others

I would/will use this kit if I decide my drum brakes aren’t good enough when I start driving it more. Drum brakes are just plain scary in modern traffic and mine are as good as they should be according to others in my club with more experience than I have.

I've got one of these kits, brand new and unused, which I really ought to sell on as I decided to go down the Riley 1.5 drum route instead. Let me know if you're interested.

Looks to be a good kit, a plus is that it fits onto standard Minor hubs.
Unfortunately it looks like the seller doesn't have any more, at least at present, as the listing has ended and the seller has no other items listed.
Hopefully more will be produced.
Best wishes,
Mike.

He puts them on regularly but only one at a time - usually to coincide with eBay promo offers, of which there are none at the moment.

In that case for those wanting one, look out for more next Monday (6th December) since that's when the next promo is meant to start (it was on the eBay homepage a few weeks ago, buy an item, get a promo to sell).

True to form. Promo started today and there’s another set popped up. Don’t blame him at all, eBay fees have gone through the roof recently. 10%!

Ford calipers, with a hose adaptor

I can't work out what the discs would be from though?

I contacted the eBay seller. The calipers, discs and pads are all Ford KA parts. Subsequently placed an order.

If anyone has successfully fitted this kit it would be great to hear how it went.
