Hi all is there someone that can tell me what colour my underbody should be,I have started to strip of the old underseal and am seriously pleased it looks in super condition, the under floor panels are painted black and the front chassis rails are white, is this correct as unsure if I should be painting the whole underbody in body colour.thought you might like some pics.

Re: Under body colour
There seem to be two joins or overlaps on the N/S chassis which aren't original, I'd investigate them first.
White is very unlikely unless the car was this colour originally. Body colour gets my vote.

Re: Under body colour
I've found that there are only two colours under a minor. Black undercoat and a strange redish brown that pops out from under the undercoat.
Re: Under body colour
Thanks for your replies ,I failed to mention that the n/chassis rail has been replaced and is black ,the car colour is snowberry white,it's a shame that apart from the n/s under sill having a couple of holes in it the rest looks good but will have to remove both sides as the repairer who did the work welded new panels over the old ones and I will want to correct this.what method would you use to paint the underside ,and what paint should I use,I don't want this to be a show car but do want it to be done correctly as far as finances permit.
Looking forward to some feedback.

personally, i'd clean it all down to metal, or as near as you can, with a rotary wire brush. treat any rust, then spray the underside with gravitex. then spray topcoat over that. offers a good amount of protection- underside and sills of the oumf alfa are done in this and it did the whole barbados sol rally without chipping... www.oumf.org

Re: Under body colour
Minors was body colour underneath, esp the inner wings... over the years on saloons and vans ive removed wings and repaired flitch panels and they was all body colour underneath what people have applied over the years like underseal. I would de rust the underside, acid the rust areas, use a good quality zinc primmer or red oxide and then stone chip and colour coat ontop.... on thing I would say is, I have a white Mg Metro and this is colour coded underneath ie while floors and wheel arches but this is a nightmare to keep clean being white....
