Re: Restoring minor wheels
I'm guessing near enough £50 each...... I stripped my (van) wheels with flap wheels in the angle grinder - undercoated them with 'red oxide' and then hand painted with 50/50 mix Dulux Gloss magnolia and white (black on the back) . They look fine to me.....total cost - nothing - the paint was 'in stock' for domestic reasons........

Re: Restoring minor wheels
Im based in Manchester and my local blaster can blast them and paint them in silver or white or black if GPO van for £30 a wheel to me... they look great, removes every bit of rust, last well and very durable even with hubcaps being knocked on and off....

Re: Restoring minor wheels
I had a quote of around £30 per wheel from a local shot-blasters for my LP917 van rims, so being the tight git I am, I spent a couple of days bare-metalling them myself using an air-driven sander, scraper, paint stripper, and various grades of wet & dry paper, wire wool, wire brushes, etc.
It was hard work due to several previous tough coats, and my fingers were sore at the end of it, but quite satisfying.
Then, I got my brother who runs a bodyshop to give them a lick of paint - they came up pretty well.

Its my best friends Sunbeam imp sport... we go to shows together and while eating our lunch in our chairs it looked a perfect photo shoot moment as the sun was out and the reflection was perfect in the shiney hubcap! Alas also shows the wheel:)bmcecosse wrote:Why do you have a picture of a (very nice - it must be said) Hillman Imp on your hub cap???

Re: Restoring minor wheels
I have just had a set of 4 blasted and powder coated for £25 each.
They have made a good job overall.
There are three places near me that do them, all around the same price
