Re: 1967 number plate
The law changed as of 1st January 1968 all vehicles registered after that date must use the White/Yellow plates. So yours being a 67 can be black with white/silver. if anyone gives you hassle tell them to look up the Road Traffic Act Construction and use Regulations Regerstration type conformation and use. can't remember the section numbering
Re: 1967 number plate
I'm sure that although the reflective white/yellow plates were introduced in 1968 they were optional until 1973 and only from Jan 1973 black/silver plates can no longer be used?

For vehicles manufactured before 1 January 1973, number plates may be the traditional "black and white" style plates, i.e. white, silver or grey characters on a black plate. Does anyone still do the black pates with white plastic lettering? When I left school I worked in what would now be called the parts department (we just called it the stores) of a HGV repair firm, one of my many menial jobs was making up the old style alloy numberplates (these were reflectives) - this being long before the horrible plastic things came along. I was also pretty nifty at flaring up brake pipes - I have to laugh at my local factors now that cant make them - they have to order them in - luckily I have access to a flaring kit.
Progress? We've heard of it.....
The voices in my head may not be real.... But they have some damn good ideas.
Re: 1967 number plate
Thank you all. Changed the plates last night to blacks.

Re: 1967 number plate
I agree with the above, looks sooo much better! Why anyone would have white and yellow plates on a moggie is beyond me.

When reflective plates were new people saw them as an upgrade that made the car look more modern.

Re: 1967 number plate
That is true. Very few people bought a brand new car after 1967 and chose to have "old fashioned" black number plates fitted. I can remember buying a pair of the "new reflective plates" for my 1962 Minor to make it look more modern!
My 1969 Minor still wears its original reflective plates with pride It's all down to personal choice of course but I'll leave them on.

Re: 1967 number plate
My '70 still has its original reflective plates. Apart from the originality they are a eighth of an inch thick, whereas the modern ones seem to be made of tinfoil.
